Wednesday, August 26, 10:00 AM. Webinar: CyanoHAB Monitoring Virtual Workshop. Victor Poretti and Dean Bryson, NJDEP Bureau of Freshwater and Biological Monitoring. Sponsored by the New Jersey Watershed Watch Network. More information here.

Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (HAB) are becoming more prevalent in New Jersey lakes with every passing year. In response, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has just released a new interactive mapping and reporting system to make it easier for the public to view HAB activity and to report suspected HABs in your area.

Community monitoring groups are invited to this virtual workshop to hear from Victor Poretti and Dean Bryson from NJDEP Bureau of Freshwater and Biological Monitoring. After an introduction to NJDEP's new online tools, these seasoned HAB monitoring experts will share the methods and tools they use to track toxic blooms throughout the state. Phycocyanin meters will be demonstrated - and available for equipment loan to select organizations!
