Join the Security and Sustainability Forum (SSF) and George Washington University (GWU) in the fourth webinar in the Leadership in our Time series. This session will be a discussion between Ditte Juul-Jørgensen, Director General for Energy of the European Commission (DG ENER), and Series host, Atlantic Council Senior Fellow, Ambassador András Simonyi.
Mrs. Juul-Jørgensen took up the position of ENER Director in August 2019. She joined DG ENER from a position as Head of Cabinet for EC Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager. She has 27 years of experience in the European Commission. Previously, she was Director of Legal Affairs and Trade in Goods in the Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade at the World Trade Organization, where she managed European Union policy and negotiations at the WTO with involvement in dispute settlement and trade in goods.
Mrs. Juul Jørgensen and Amb. Simonyi will discuss the EU’s Energy Union after the adoption of the European Green Deal, the Internal Energy Market, EU-US energy cooperation, the EU’s goal to become climate neutral by 2050, and the role of U.S. LNG in European energy security.
