Wednesday, February 16, 2022. 4:00 PM. Webinar: Drivers of Exceptional Coastal Warming in the Northeastern United States. Ambarish Karmalkar, University of Massachusetts, Amherst; Radley Horton, Columbia University. Sponsored by Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center. Register here.

The Northeastern United States and the adjacent Northwest Atlantic Shelf have emerged as warming hotspots, but the connection between them has remained unexplored. In this webinar, Ambarish Karmalkar and Radley Horton will use observational datasets to discuss the role of oceanic and atmospheric processes in driving rapid warming trends along the NEUS coast, test the fidelity of climate models to capture the observed warming pattern, and discuss the need for more nuanced climate assessments to understand the impacts on human and natural systems.
