Read this Rutgers Today profile on RCI Affiliate Paul Falkowski and Rutgers Professor Debashish Bhattacharya and their coral gene database study which provides clues as to the evolutionary strategies that have allowed corals to adapt for hundreds of millions of years, suggesting that corals genetic diversity may assist in their ability to adapt to warming and acidifying oceans.

RCI affiliate, Malin Pinsky is quoted in this Wall Street Journal article about how changing migratory patterns of fish are affecting the fishing industry on the East Coast.

In this article by Phys.org, RCI affiliate Jennifer Francis is quoted about the connection between the warmer Arctic and the early fire season in Canada. Dr.  Francis is also quoted in a Washington Post article about the consequences of the fast melting Arctic that will be felt in 2016, especially for mid latitude areas.

Congratulations to RCI Affiliate Oscar Schofield and his Rutgers University collaborators on their  $11.8 million  National Science Foundation grant to help launch and operate the Oceans Observatories Initiative’s data system. Read more here
