The United States Geological Survey has released a new Sea-Level Rise Handbook that highlights science and models for non-scientists. It is designed for land managers, coastal planers and policy makers in the United States, the handbook explains the contributing factors that account for sea-level change and models that can help inform decisions for adaptation to these changes. The National Academies Press has released Review of the Draft Interagency Report on the Impacts of Climate Change on Human Health in the United States. This book is intended to inform public health authorities, other planning and policy entities, and the general public about the potential impacts that climate change has on human health. NOAA Fisheries has released the NOAA Fisheries Climate Science Strategy. The Strategy includes information and tools to prepare for and respond to climate impacts on marine and coastal resources. A Strategic Vision for NSF Investments in Antarctic and Southern Ocean ResearchOcean Research has been released by the National Academy of Sciences. It offers a strategic vision to guide the U.S. Antarctic Program at the National Science Foundation (NSF) over the coming decade. Key priorities include an initiative to better understand how melting ice sheets could contribute to sea level rise; efforts to decode the genomes of organisms to understand how Antarctic ecosystems evolve and adapt to the extreme, changing environment; and studies of the Cosmic Microwave Background to address questions about the origin of the universe.
